Introduction
The training offered is at Master 2 level and for a professional purpose. It offers a new course for the Master 1 in Freedoms Law - International and European Human Rights Law at UCLy in agreement with the University of Grenoble Alpes.Taught entirely in English and following an initial face-to-face training regime over one year.

2 to 6 months of internship 100% in EnglishGoals :The Master 2 Droit des Libertés - Human Rights Diplomacy will provide transversal and multidisciplinary education, combining international law, international relations and political science. These areas will intersect around major international issues, such as those of the environment or migration. The objective is to understand how diplomacy, in complementarity with other mechanisms, can become a tool for the promotion and protection of human rights. And conversely, how Human Rights have invested the diplomatic framework to become an important vector.
It will also be a question of studying the components and actors of human rights diplomacy. The objective is to understand how they interact with the different levels of global governance. But also, how they appropriate the tools of international relations, among others: law, multilateralism, cooperation or even public policies.
Students will thus have a holistic approach to the issue of promotion and protection of Human Rights. They will therefore have a better understanding of the evolution of International Relations and International Law, which are reconfiguring themselves around this new issue. Their analysis will be able to take into account at the same time all the actors of Human Rights, of all the levels of their implementation and the various tools for their realization.Organization:The training takes place over one year and is organized in two semesters articulated around 4 teaching units. These units are divided into different compulsory or compulsory electives. They follow a progression making it possible to lay down a conceptual framework, to focus on practice through seminars and conferences, then to address specific issues and certain methodological points.Public:Recruitment level: Master 1 level (Bac +4) or equivalent in Legal, Political and Human Sciences, International Relations.

It will be reinforced by an important network of foreign partners available to IDHL. These will also be able to accommodate students on internships (UN, NGOs, specialized agencies). Students will also benefit from the network of former IDHL students, stationed around the world.The pedagogical team :The teaching team will be made up of international experts in the field of Human Rights. Aimed at an audience wishing to complete a diplomatic or legal course, this Master will allow them to acquire the skills necessary to integrate international or governmental bodies intervening in many fields related to human rights issues.
