Manchester Metropolitan University has been a historic and internationally recognised institution since 1824. Known for the quality of our teaching, we are ranked as one of the top 60 universities in the UK (Complete University Guide 2024).
Our University, located in the centre of Manchester, is home to a diverse community of more than 5,000 international students from over 120 countries. Manchester is an exciting and vibrant city with museums, galleries, theatres, and music venues. It has been ranked as the third-best student city in the UK (QS Best Student Cities 2024) and one of the most affordable cities for students in England (NatWest Student Living Index 2023).
Moreover, we have over £400 million planned to develop our facilities and public spaces, and we have already invested in our Grosvenor building for the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, School of Digital Arts, Institute of Sport and the Dalton building, which is a redevelopment for the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

Student support
Welcoming international students is important to us, and we have dedicated staff available to help you. From the beginning of your study journey at Manchester Met, our friendly International Office team has been there for you to ensure you receive all the support you need to succeed.
Throughout your studies, our Academic and Study Skills team offers support and advice on academic writing, numeracy, specific learning difficulties, study skills and assistive technologies. You can choose to access help through one-to-one appointments, short courses and workshops.
Our Language Centre runs free English language coaching to support you during your time with us. These can improve your confidence in classes and seminars, helping you both socially and academically.
Our Careers Service is here to help you with your future career. We have dedicated teams of highly experienced advisers in each faculty who can provide expert advice tailored to your career goals.
Additionally, every student at the University is also automatically a member of the Students’ Union, which exists to make sure that our students have the best experience they can during their studies. Moreover, The Union runs the International Student Group specifically for international students at Manchester Met, organising social and cultural events, as well as trips around the UK.
Facilities
If you choose to study at Manchester Met, you will have access to impressive lecture theatres, seminar rooms, and study zones that have the latest technology and specialist equipment. Furthermore, as a Manchester Met student, you have access to an incredible library stocked with more than a million books, e-books and journals (academic year 2023/24).

Sport
Manchester is home to some of the biggest names in sports, and this has inspired Manchester Met to offer a wide range of sporting activities to students - there are currently over 40 sports clubs at the University open to join for all Manchester Met students.
The Institute of Sport also works with organisations that include the Football Association, the International Olympic Committee, the International Paralympic Committee, Sport England, and UEFA.

Accommodation
International students can access a range of accommodation options while studying at Manchester Met, from en-suite rooms in shared flats to bedrooms with shared kitchens and bathrooms. Manchester Met also has self-contained studio flats available.
All rooms are close to where you will study and near to local facilities including shops, restaurants, cafés, and excellent transport links. You will also find support whenever you need it, from our dedicated Residential Life Team to a 24-hour Security Team. Undergraduate students are also guaranteed a place in Manchester Met's University student accommodation for their first year of study if they apply before the annual deadline.

Student Support

Every student at the University is also automatically a member of the Students’ Union, which exists to make sure that students have the best experience they can during their studies.
