GW Law is the birthplace of the government procurement law discipline. The distinguished members of our faculty are recognized as thought leaders in the field, producing scholarship that changes the way the world thinks and talks about public procurement. Our experiential, practice-based curriculum prepares students for the demands of a complex procurement law practice. We offer an unmatched variety of degrees, for attorneys in training, attorneys, and non-attorneys with experience in the government procurement field.

This LLM is one of the world's only two LLM degree programs offered by an intergovernmental organization constituted under international law (the other being offered by the European University Institute).

Established at the beginning of the modern environmental law era, the George Washington University Law School's Environmental and Energy Law Program has been at the forefront of education in the field for almost 50 years. Over the past decade, the program has been expanded to increase our focus on energy law, adding new classes and creating the Sustainable Energy Initiative.

The National Security Law programs the George Washington University Law School highlight our unique strengths: a nationally recognized faculty, a comprehensive curriculum, and access to the extensive Washington, D.C., foreign relations, cybersecurity, and national security law community. While a number of U.S. law schools offer one or two courses in these fields, few others approach the number of courses available at GW Law. Students can choose between receiving an LL.M. in National Security and Cybersecurity Law, an LL.M. in National Security and U.S. Foreign Relations Law, or an MSL in Cybersecurity.

The George Washington University Law School has been a leader in intellectual property education and scholarship for more than a hundred years. When GW Law established a Master's of Patent Law program in 1895, its alumni had already written the patents for Bell's the telephone, Mergenthaler's the linotype machine, and Eastman's roll the film camera, among hundreds of other inventions, and dozens of more alumni had worked in the Patent Office.

Clients demand that their lawyers be skilled in international and comparative law. Transactional lawyers need to be able to negotiate complex international contracts. Advocates must be capable of appearing before a domestic court, an arbitration panel, or an international tribunal to argue cutting-edge issues relating to international law.

All candidates for the LLM degree must complete a total of 24 credit hours, including course work that satisfies the written work requirement.
